How Does a Broker/Agent Differ From a Call Center?

A Medicare insurance broker/agent is an independent agent who represents multiple carriers so that they can work to give you an unbiased opinion on your Medicare plan options. They are appointed by many different insurance companies so that they can find the right fit for you rather than having to push one carrier. Your Medicare broker will be able to review all of the options available and search for a plan that most closely fits your individual needs and budget.

This means you pay ABSOLUTELY NOTHING for our help.

When you call into a call center there are many differences that you’re not made aware of. Below are just a few…

  • Call centers typically only sell the products of one carrier.
  • They are not required to do the certifications and training that broker/agents in your community do.
  • They sell based on policy commission instead of need.
  • They typically don’t research your doctors or pharmaceuticals to ensure the best pricing and that they are covered under the plan being sold.
  • You don’t get the same person you spoke to on the phone again if you need to call back.
  • They don’t offer annual reviews to ensure your policy coverage changes.
  • They typically don’t work or live in the state you reside.

How does this differ with a Broker/Agent?…

  • We spend countless hours re-certifying yearly and paying fees to be compliant with the government to be able to work with you in our communities.
  • We spend countless hours in trainings to ensure we know the upcoming changes and products available in our state.
  • We work, live and raise our families in your communities.
  • We will answer the phone, return emails and meet you in person with any questions or concerns.
  • We do annual reviews to ensure that the policy your currently in is the best fit for you moving into the next year, if not then we find a plan that meets your changing needs.
  • We are here when you need us and appreciate having a working relationship together.
  • We know what carriers and products work best in your area.

You see and hear from these call centers on a daily basis from the tv ads and mailers. Especially in the twelve months before turning 65 and each annual enrollment period. With the ever-changing Medicare market now is more important then ever to support your local brokers/agents. As the government doesn’t see the difference between call centers and brokers/agents, they want to minimize the local help to you and have you call an 800 number to purchase and get assistance with your plan options.
